Finish Line before the Playoffs!

Half a dozen games to go, and what can we anticipate for the Playoffs!?

The Eastern Conference “final four” should end up being with an interesting battle between Bulls-Celtics and Heat-Pacers and to be honest I wouldn’t be amazed to see a final Celtics-Pacers.

In the Western Conference, the “final Four” might be less obvious. Even though I could see the Lakers Champions, I’ll go for Spurs-Menphis and Thunder-Clippers.

And because I have to make a prognostic, I’ll go for the Bulls!

What’s yours?!

Peace out!

All Star Week-End!

Quick post today!

All Star Game 2012

Is it worth getting excited about the All Star week-end this year in Orlando?

From the old star who, arguably, don’t deserve to be there, to the poor cast for the Sprite Slam Dunk contest, I am not sure I am that excited about it.

Of course it’s great to see some players being rewarded for their career, or to see new talents being put under the spot light but I would have loved to see “la crème de la crème” such as the King against Superman against the Quake at the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest.

What do you think?

Top 10 and bottom 5 #1

“Too big too strong too fast too good”

Some say I have hibernated in January and on the 14th of February I celebrate the St VaLinTime! All we know is that I have a lot to catch up

Without further due, let me share my top 10 so far from this unexpected NBA season

  1. There is a season: a year without the NBA would have been like a Christmas without the family, the nice meals and the gifts. We can survive but this simply isn’t the same
  2. We can still see some of the dinausors play. On the top of my list: Nash, Duncan, Hill, Nowitzki, Kidd, Allen, Garnet, …
  3.  The young generation is taking over brilliantly: Bulls, OKC, Miami, Clippers, Atlanta
  4. But the old one is not ready to let that go so easily: Spurs, Lakers, Dallas, Boston
  5. It’s Lob city in LA with the Clippers and this is fun to watch. Can they play the title now they have acquired K-Mart but lost Billups?
  6. Prono time: the Finals Bulls vs. OKC! That would be brutal and we would have great match ups almost everywhere
  7. +10 = #17. Lin is lifting up the Knicks and I hope for them it will last once all the pieces will be together again. The NBA needs the knicks and so do we.
  8. Golden State Warrior’s head coach Mark Jackson for his ridiculous attempt to hack a Dwight with 39 FT. It’s silly and it didn’t work but at least he tried and sticked to his gun. He did it during the regular season when you can afford once in a while to be crazy
  9. Miami 2011-2012 for not being Miami 2010-2011
  10. Players from Congo as they seem to be born with the “Not in my house” gene. Ibaka represents well Monsieur Dikembe Mutombo

Moving on to my bottom 5:

  1. This craziness of having 66 games in such a small period of time with back to back to back to back to back to back! Money rules the world, nothing new under the sun you will tell me but am sure we could have done with 58
  2. Howard and the trade rumors
  3. NOLA which still belong to David Stern and Co
  4. Portland not realising that Batum deserve more and Griffin for not improving his D!
  5. The Wizards and the Bobcats simply because there are at the bottom

Peace out!

Merry Xmas!

Thank you Santa!

The NBA is back on and what a better gift than scheduling the first games on the 25th of December!

Some players moved around for the best (Paul & Billups to the Clippers, Rip Hamilton to the Bulls) or the worst (Chandler & Davis to NY, Odom to the Mavs) … or did they? The season will tell.

For the time being, this is just the preseason but we can already enjoy a brand new top ten!
I have a feeling that between DeAndre, Griffin and Paul the Clippers might be the house of highlights (again) this year.

NBAers Abroad! #2

Tony Parker and Nicolas Batum
Parker and Batum with their respective jersey of ASVEL and SLUC in the French league

The edition #2 of the NBAers abroad might well be the last one.
At long last the rich have decided to reach an agreement with the richer, that’s what a friend told me “a 1st world problem”.
The Lockout is … almost over, as the new CBA has not been signed yet, but this should only be a formality.

So let’s have a last dive into the numbers produced by the NBAers Europe.

Andrei Kirilenko – 13.8ppg, 9rpg, 3.4apg, 2.2spg (NB: was elected MVP of the Euroleague last Month)

Nicolas Batum – 15.8ppg, 6.7rpg, 5.2apg, 1.7stl (NB: was elected twice MVP of the day in the Euroleague)

Rudy Fernandez – 13.2ppg, 3rpg, 2apg, 1spg

Jordan Farmar – 14.7ppg, 4.8rpg, 4.3apg, 1.5spg

Sasha Vujacic – 14.7ppg, 3.5rpg, 1.5apg, 1.5spg

Nenad Krstic – 15.2ppg, 6.7rpg, 0.7apg, 1.2spg (NB: just been elected MVP of the month in the Euroleague)

Ty Lawson – 7ppg, 3.2rpg, 1.3apg, 0.8spg

Danilo Gallinari – 17ppg, 4.2rpg, 1apg, 0.8spg

Extra stats for two all stars who hasn’t signed for a team playing the Euroleague

Deron Williams – 19.7ppg, 3.2rpg, 6.43apg

Tony Parker – 20.9ppg, 4.9rpg, 6.3apg, 1.7spg (NB: elected MVP last month in the French League)

I haven’t done a complete list and decided to focus on the bigger names.
What we can see is that coming from the NBA is not a guarantee of success when playing for a good European team however most of these guys have done pretty well.

Soon we will see if this, “new” for some, experience will help them to improve their games once back in the NBA.
It was short but still it was nice to see them in Europe.

Best of luck!

Mr Showman!

No disrespect to them but forget Bob Cousy, Magic, Steve Nash or any other players.

Pistol Pete Maravich is the man. Before anyone, he understood that people not only wanted a game but they also came for the Showtime.

Sit down, relax and enjoy
